Not Afraid … 75 Years of Film Exhibition in Los Angeles
Be a part of the 75th Anniversary celebration by diving deep into Laemmle lore with our commemorative journal, Not Afraid ... 75 Years of Film Exhibition in Los Angeles.
A celebration of cinema, culture, and community, "NOT AFRAID..." explores the Laemmle family saga through a variety of lenses. It all started in 1938 when, as a great storm brewed in Europe, brothers Max & Kurt Laemmle -- German Jews and nephews of the renowned "Uncle Carl" -- opened their first theater in Highland Park just north of downtown Los Angeles. Who knew that 75 years and four generations later the brother's shared dream would still be going strong, leaving a transformed cultural and civic landscape in its wake.
